Quiet water by the mountains
I paused behind the leafy branches and looked across the dark water toward the church steeple. The sheer rock faces rising into the gray sky made everything along the shore seem very small and quiet.

A tree minding the windows
Standing on the cobbles, I had to admire a blossoming tree that had somehow agreed to grow in neat right angles between the shutters. It lent the sunlit square an air of exceptionally polite, patient order.

Parked beneath the mountain
I paused beside the pale green camper, looking up at the steep rock face rising into the gray sky. A quiet chill hung over the roadside as people strolled slowly past the church.
